Dentist Slate Valley

After determining that the leak in the kitchen had indeed originated at the slated valley, we planned the rebuilding of the valley and the parts around it.

The 90+ year old copper step flashing that is woven under the slate had totally rotted away and multiple pieces of slate were broken. New slate was sourced from Vermont to match the color, thickness, durability and overall character of the original slate on the building. We then protected the sidewalk and built a walkway to allow the slate work to happen while the dental office stayed open. The entire valley was taken apart to allow a sheathing inspection before 20 OZ copper was installed with the existing and replacement slate. The snow retention system was replaced with brass plates, uprights and pipes. A stainless steel mesh was then added to keep smaller snow and debris from sliding to the sidewalk.
